Bridgend wind turbine

Ford Bridgend

In December 2014, we commissioned a 500 kW wind turbine at Ford’s Bridgend Engine Plant, providing low carbon electricity directly to the plant.

In 1998, Ford’s Bridgend Engine Plant became the first car manufacturing plant in Europe to be retrofitted with an integrated, grid-connected solar/photovoltaic installation.

The wind turbine project at Bridgend was designed to complement existing sustainability measures at the site, further reducing emissions associated with plant operations.

The Bridgend wind turbine will provide the Engine Plant with approximately 1.25 GWh of electricity each year, enough to power almost 300 homes.
