AGR Renewables Acquires Solar and BESS Project from Cambridge Power

AGR Renewables is pleased to announce an acquisition of two solar and battery projects from Cambridge Power, comprising of 70MWp solar with a 50MW co-located battery, and a standalone 50MW battery energy storage system(BESS) located near Eaton Socon, Bedfordshire.

Once constructed, the  solar park will export up to 49.9MW of clean, renewable electricity to the grid, complemented by 100MWh of grid balancing capacity from the battery system. Together, these assets will provide support for national grid stability and contribute to the UK's energy transition.

The BESS site received planning approval in 2023, while the solar scheme was granted consent in early 2025. The project is expected to commence construction in Q3 2025.

In addition to its energy benefits, the project delivers significant environmental enhancements. The solar installation is expected to deliver over 100% net biodiversity gain, while the co-located BESS is projected to provide a 71% net gain, reflecting AGR’s commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure with measurable environmental benefits.

AGR is dedicated to bringing a positive impact on the local community. Throughout the construction and operation phases, the project is expected to generate employment opportunities and support the local economy.

Oliver Breidt, Founder of AGR Renewables: “The acquisition of Eaton Socon marks a significant milestone in AGR’s growth story. The assets complement AGR’s existing pipeline and further consolidate the company’s position as one of the fastest growing renewable energy developers in the country. Together with our shareholders, AGR is planning to deliver the projects in line with its target of delivering 500MW of operational solar and 1GW of BESS assets by end of 2026.”
